I received the message below and concur with it completely. I hope Carson gets the strong message that many Democrats are holding their noses and voting for him. Gawd, I hate voting for the lesser of 2 evils, and I fear from his service in Congress that is exactly what we are doing. Many of us need reassurance that he's not another Watkins or Brewster.*^*^*I regret that I am forced to cast my vote for Brad Carson in this election. I have been quite disturbed at many of the hateful and divisive positions set forth by Mr. Carson in his effort to win this election. Unfortunately, there is no alternative. Therefore, I'm joining the cause espoused in the attached email. Mr. Carson should know that a significant percentage of votes cast in his favor on election day will not be votes for him at all. Rather, they are merely votes to prevent a man with truly frightening ideas from representing our State in the Senate. Mr. Carson has much work to do to begin healing the wounds he has created within his core constituency.
*^*^*I, too, have felt the urge to leave the Senate race blank. The ads from Coburn that are meant to keep people from voting for Carson ("A vote for Carson is a vote against Bush!) are pretty scary because I think a lot of Republicans are against Coburn but can't bring themselves to vote for Carson. Therefore.... it's gonna cost you to get my vote. I'm gonna watch you like a hawk. You can't have it both ways. You;re gonna have to really LISTEN to your constituents. I do agree with one of your ads. I do believe Tom Coburn is in for his point of view and doesn't give me a 2nd thought.*^*^*I'm voting for you, but it is really a vote against the radical extremist Tom Coburn. I'm appalled by the negative ads from both sides and your position on disenfranchising gay Oklahomas and their friends and families. I understand you are trying to win an election, but this has been such a disappointment. As a supporter of the Democratic Party and a Tulsa Community Activist, I'm asking that you seriously rethink your positions that really narrow your differences from people like Coburn; particularly if you plan to run for office in the future, you can't sell out without having your integrity and your own prejudices called into question. An appreciation of diversity doesn't end with race and gender.*^*^*Great idea, by the way! Have you heard from the Carson Campaign? I've received this from about 6 people, so they must be getting slammed!
