Right On Carson
Now the Republicans are getting in the game. I found this link on the OKGOPChat discussion site.
Here's a funny website--about how a lot of D's have to hold their nose to vote for Carson! My advice to them? Don't bother!
This gave me an opportunity to give my campaign pitch (click below). Can my Clothespin Brigade forgive me for registering as a Republican chatter?
Thanks for the plug! As a progressive (that's what we liberals call ourselves now, since RR turned it into a curseword -- those of you who get your bills paid by Medicare, who live in rural areas but have electricity, who drive to work on free roads paid for by tax dollars -- you can count yourselves as progressive too. I promise not to tell!), I'm very PO'd at Brad Carson. He's a heck of a Republican, but a lousy Democrat. If you read the comments posted on my blog, I'm sure you'll find it much easier to vote for him. He doesn't want the children whose parents happen to be gay to have the protections afforded to YOUR kids. He thinks bombing city after city in the Middle East is somehow going to make us safer from terrorists. He doesn't mind sacrificing our constitutional rights to buy a small chunk of security via the USA PATRIOT ACT. In other words -- he's one of YOU.Coburn, on the other hand, is a wing-nut who thinks that doctors who terminate pregnancies (like him, for example) should be executed. I'd say he should volunteer to be the test case! If only I weren't morally and pragmatically opposed to the death penalty. Darn, hoist on that progressive petard again!

Now, I'm thinking we may need to set up a new category: Republicans who hold their nose and vote for Carson -- not despite his politics, but despite his party. Now, I don't think it's really as hard for them, because he is clearly the best Republican candidate in the race. Also, they can always hope that Carson turns coat, whereas our hopes that he will become a true Democrat are less grounded by the evidence.
Still, I'd like to suggest a rallying cry for the Repubs who vote for the best Republican rather than the nominal Republican: "Hold your nose until you turn blue!" I'm sure they will still vote for Bush, so they get to see the state painted the "Right" color on Nov 2.
